I had been keeping my passwords and addresses on a 3x5 card........ I'm happy I finally found something like this. Sure beats 3x5 cards. Hard bound with LOTS of pages to fill up. I suggest using a pencil in the event you change passwords often on financial sites or credit card sites. Great idea for stocking stuffers for kids or grandma.
Of all the available varieties & styles of books designed to "condense a person's info for access to computer accounts", this one is the closest to what I was looking for. It's small, has lots of pages for entries ( because they will change over time ), & the pages have tabs for the alphabet index. As with anything designed for a cross-section of people & their varying needs, no one item is perfect for everyone. But, overall, I'm pleased with this item. It's size is 4-1/4" X 6" X 3/4" thick; the paper label comes off, allowing obscurity; the wire binding under the wrap-around cover allow the pages to lie fairly flat; and the muted-red color makes it easier for you to find in a drawer, etc.
I bought this one for the spiral binding. Unfortunately, because the front and rear covers are connected over that binding, you can't lay the pages flat. Hard to explain, but the pages are on a slant because the cover requires them to be. If the cover was 2 pieces, then the pages could lie flat on the spiral. Also, the tabs, while helpful, don't extend beyond the edge of the page, they are cut out of the page. Therefore you can't grab the tab and go, you have to kind of flop the book back and forth to grab the tab.I liked my previous one better (which I got from an organizing store whose name starts with container and ends with store), but it had gotten too messy with all my password changes.. I should have paid extra for that one, I think.As to writing down my passwords, I can see the security weakness in that. However, my bank card wasn't hacked from my password book, it was hacked from Target, through Target's security and firewalls. I don't really trust the electronic password savers to be unhackable. I put shorthand notes to myself in my password book, so the full password isn't there, but it will remind me what the password is. Again, not the most secure, but better than nothing, and as another poster said, if someone breaks into my home, I'll bet they'll be going after the family silver and the electronics, not rooting through my drawers looking for a password book... And, if they do break in for my password book, at least I'll have forced them to get dressed and leave the house and put in a little physical work for it ;-)
This is an awesome little password book. It's nice and small--about the size of my hand--so you could slide it in a pocket, bag, or drawer without much trouble. It's hardcover and spiral bound so it'll lay nice and flat while you're using it. The password entries are divided into pairs of letters, sort of like old address books. Each entry gives you a line for a name, site address, username, password, and a few lines for notes. Toward the back, you've got a few sections dedicated to stuff like your ISP and computer info, an exhaustive Home Network Settings section, a Software License Numbers section, and an expanded Notes section that gives you five or six pages to write on.I would not recommend this product for a business setting, but it's perfect for home use. Create different passwords for all your accounts, write everything down in this book, delete your passwords from your browsers, and leave this book in your desk drawer. It may seem a little counterintuitive, but trust me, your accounts will be safer this way. This sort of password management requires someone to gain physical access to this information, which is a lot harder to do than the virtual alternative.
Just what I needed. I was using a little notebook but it was impossible to find what I needed as it wasn't organized. This notebook is alphabetical, with a spiral binding inside so you can mostly lay it flat and tabs to find what you need more quickly. The cover is plain, so it sort of passes as "not a password book" unless someone opens it to see the front matter. There's only one line for the password, so if you have to change passwords often it's not good, the paper will hold up to some erasing but not a lot. There's 3 sections per page and 10 pages per 2 letters for the smaller size (as it says in the answered questions) so there's no issue with running out of space, though sections like ST are much fuller than YZ.
This is such a great idea! I kept forgetting my passwords and this had made life a bit easier. As someone who tends to remember things better after writing them down anyway, this book has been a great help in keeping organized. For an extra layer of security, instead of writing the actual password, for many entries I put in another word or phrase that helps me remember it. I adjust the capitalization and adding special characters as needed for case sensitive passwords.
These are the BEST internet password books.They have a lot of cover designs, so check for one you like.The inside has spaces for internet passwords, usernames, and an extra space to write things like reward club passwords or other extra things that some websites want you to keep track of. Or you could note which sites have free shipping.The book is compact and closes with an elastic band.
This is great. I read a lot of reviews where people were giving this to their parents but I bought it for myself because my brain has better things to do than remember 14 trillion passwords. Yes, obviously, if your book gets stolen that's a problem but it's a problem if your password app account is compromised or someone reads your thoughts, too, so everything is a risk and I will take a risk for convenience.This has also really helped my husband and I - we have separate accounts for many things and we wanted someplace to log passwords in case one of us was incapacitated in some way. It also helps when we look into each other's accounts for information during tax season, etc. This may not be a reason for everyone to own it but it was a big reason for us.
